Application Procedure
Are you ready for the challenge of a lifetime? Ready to drive innovation, push boundaries and build your own car? Solar Team Twente is going rally racing, and this is your moment to step in. In September 2026, a new group of students from Saxion Hogeschool and the University of Twente will start their adventure as the newest team of Solar Team Twente. For the first time in our history, we are not building a solar road car. We are building an electric rally car.

Non-Technical Background? You can still join us!
Building and racing with a (solar) rally car has many different challenges, not all of them technical. Do you have a non-technical background, but are you interested in building an amazing team, concurring logistical challenges or being responsible for the media of the team? Solar Team Twente has many different non-technical positions. Take a look at our Management or Marketing and Communications subteams. Social Media Marketer
As a Social Media Marketer, you are the voice and energy of Solar Team Twente across all social platforms.

Photo- or Videographer
Showing our adventure to the world requires great photos and videos, so your passion can be of great value! This role is often combined within other functions, feel free to apply for any combination.
Technical Team
Lead Engineer
The lead engineer is the person that is able to see the picture of all parts combined.
Mechatronics Engineer
As a mechatronics engineer, you will work in the overlapping discipline between the electrical and mechanical domain.
Drivetrain Engineer
As the Drivetrain Engineer, you are responsible for converting electrical power into mechanical power in the most efficient way.
Technical Team – Mechanics, Aerodynamics & Structural
Vehicle Dynamics Engineer
You are responsible for how the car behaves in all conditions, it being handling, stability, traction, ride comfort and overall predictability during the extreme stages of the rally.
Mechanical Engineer
As a Mechanical Engineer of Solar Team Twente, you are responsible for all parts which can move with respect to the structural part of the car.
Structural Engineer
As a Structural Engineer at Solar Team Twente, you will be responsible for all loadbearing points of the car.
Thermodynamics Engineer
As a thermodynamics engineer, you play a vital role in ensuring the car can endure the extreme conditions of the desert.
Aerodynamics Engineer
As an aerodynamics engineer, you will design the exterior of the car, with the goal to minimize the car’s aerodynamic drag while still fitting all the components.
Technical Team – Electrical & Software
Battery Engineer
The battery is the heart of the electrical system, and your work will directly contribute to the performance, safety, and reliability of the rally car.
Electrical Engineer
Within Solar Team Twente the Electrical Engineers make sure that the car can drive in an efficient and reliable way.
Embedded Software Engineer
As Embedded Software Engineer you’re responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the embedded systems that control and monitor the rally car.
Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer, your main responsibility is connecting the dots between the electrical components, the received data, and the performance of the car.
Performance Engineer (Strategist)
As a Performance Engineer, you translate race goals and environmental conditions like the race route and weather into clear, measurable vehicle performance requirements.
